  • Discuss questions and comments for Chapters 13-17
2. Large Group Discussion

  • What questions do you have about the novel thus far?
  • What passages made you pause and think?
  • What confused you about the text?
  • Think about:
    • How is Jonas changing?
    • What choices has Jonas made?
    • What steps in the hero's journey are present and WHERE?
Work Period:
3. Read aloud: Chapter 18 with 3 Large Post-Its and Four Small

  • One Question for the text
  • One Personal Response to the text
  • One Interpretation of the text
Small Post-Its
  • Note at least three words that are italicized.  Decide why they are italicized and include that information on the small sticky notes.
