- Thesis:
- Does your definition reflect your unique opinion?
- Is your thesis clearly stated in the introduction of your essay?
- Three Definition Strategies (Function, Example, Negation)
- Do you use enough examples to help the reader understand your unique point of view?
- Can your reader relate to your examples?
- Do you cite textual evidence properly, by stating the title and author?
- Sequence of Paragraphs:
- Will your ideas have a greater impact if you rearrange your ideas?
- Conclusion:
- The essay should end by focusing on the question: "So What?" Encourage the reader to accept the definition you presented
