  • predict what I think the unit is about
  • summarize the 1st Embedded Assessment
Opening:
1. LAST CALL for missing/late work and make-up assignments.

2. Final Grades will be posted outside my classroom tomorrow afternoon at 3:00pm.  Please feel free to stop by.  If you have anything that needs to be turned in, drop it at the main office.

3. Handout "Article of the Week"
  • Predict
  • Read Aloud
  • Due Thursday, January 23rd.
4. Handouts:
  • Work Folders w/ "Choice" Circle Map
5. Quick Clean up and Organization (5 minutes!)
  • Locate all Classwork from the 1st Semester in your bag, binder, etc. and place in "WORK" Folder.
  • Anyone need a new Work Folder?
  • Return Work Folder to the Computer Table
  • Determine if you need a new Class Notebook or Reader's Notebook...get a new one this weekend.

Work Period:
6. Unit 3: Voices and Challenges begins on page 225.

  • Read the Unit Overview to yourself and mark/highlight the text
    • Summarize the Unit Overview in a sentence at the bottom of page 225.
  • Preview the Contents on page 226-227.
    • What do you "notice"?
    • Create a KWL chart at the bottom of page 227 for the Academic Vocabulary.
      • Discuss these vocabulary words in your small groups to determine if any Q's can become H's through discussion.
  • Read the Learning Focus on page 228 and mark the text.
    • Complete the first three questions on page 229.
  • Find the Embedded Assessment on pages 259-264.  Skim the project and the summarize it at the bottom of page 229.
    • What belongs on our Anchor Chart?

8. Ensure that you have an Independent Reading book
