Tomorrow is Literature Circle #2.  Prepare your DEJs and Role Sheets. 

Opening:
1. Vocabulary Review and Discussion:

  • Anti-Semitism
  • Concentration camp
  • Death camp
  • Genocide
  • Gestapo
  • Holocaust (two meanings)
  • Nazi
  • Persecution
  • Propaganda
  • SS (Schutzstaffel)
  • Star of David

2. In your class notebook, use at least SIX words from the list to describe what you have learned about the Holocaust.

Work Period:
3. Regroup into four large groups.

4. Using the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website, research and take notes on your assigned topic.  

  • Start with the page "The Holocaust: A Learning Site for Students."
  • As you research, take notes:
    • Topic Researched:
    • Notes for Talking Points:
    • Summaries and Dates of Key Events
  • Copy Key Dates and Events neatly onto individual notecards to add to the collaborative timeline after your presentation.
