I can...
  • understand Holocaust related diction
  • explain new learning about the Holocaust using new vocabulary words
Opening:
1. Vocabulary Review:

  • diction
  • denotation
  • connotation
  • euphemism*
2. In a dictionary, look up:
  1. relocation
  2. disinfecting/delousing
  3. camp
  4. final solution
3. Using the internet, do an effective web search on each of those terms by adding the term "Holocaust" into your search.

4. Discuss:
  • what is the difference in meaning between the denotation, and the meaning in the context of the Holocaust?
  • What's the difference in connotation?

Work Period:
5. In your literature circle group, look up all of the terms on page 179.  (If you are in a group of three, consider combining with another group of 3.)

Closing:
6. In your class notebook, use at least SIX words from the list to describe what you have learned about the Holocaust.
