Learning Objective:
I can…

  • apply the hero's journey archetype to non print text
Opening:
1. Article of the Week due Tomorrow.
2. Spelling Bee tomorrow.

3. Review the River images that you marked throughout the text.  How did Lowry creatively answer the question:

Where do your ideas come from?

4.  Share your Homework: Illustrate one of the memories.  Use framing, angle and lighting to effectively capture the moment.

Work Period:
5. Preview the "Film Techniques" graphic organizer on page 89.

  • Elliott loves E.T., but The Men from the Opening just want to study ET
  • E.T. and his older brother have friends who like to ride their bikes

  • You will work in pairs

  • 6. After viewing the first part of the clip, get together with your partner and fill in as many examples of each elements (framing, camera angles, lighting) as you can.

    7. Combine with the others in your area to share notes from the row you didn't complete.

    Closing:
Page 90: Describe the elements of the Hero's Journey that are present in the clip I showed you.
