1. Discuss the Word Connections box on 232.
2. Review the literature circle roles on page 233.
3. Preview Children's Books.
Work Period:
4. 5 Corners: Create Temporary Literature Circle Groups
5. You will be given a Children's Book.
- Create a Double-Entry Journal in your Class Journal (Tri-Fold)
- Label the top of each column
- Include:
- Column 1: interesting quotations from the text
- Column 2: thoughtful questions about the text, analysis, personal connections
- Create one or two entries in the DEJ.
- Use the packet I hand out to you and take the role sheet I give you...take notes according to your role in the literature circle.
6. Read the book and take notes.
7. When everyone is done with their reading and their notes...gather together and conduct a literature circle discussion.

7. Take notes tonight on page 236 about your discussion.
8. Complete page 237 based on your group discussion.
