1. Let's reread Terrible Things in roles. Take notes on pages 230-231
- Narrator
- Frogs
- Squirrels
- Porcupines

2. Discuss:
- When do the animals make sense?
- When don't they give answers that make sense?
Work Period:
3. In your class notebook, respond to the writing prompt in a paragraph using textual evidence (text and images from Terrible Things).
4. Return to the Word Wall for the Class. Where does Allegory fall on a QHT?
5. Discuss the Word Connections box, then discuss the KWH of the KWHL in your small groups.
6. Small group discussion continued:
- What do you know about the Holocaust? How did you learn it?
- How old do you think someone should be when they first learn about the Holocaust? Why would someone write a children's book about such disturbing subject?
7. Read through the literature circle roles on page 233.

8. Using the instructions on 234, create a resume in your Class Notebook.
